I’m a writer and musician currently living in the Pacific Northwest. Recently, I’ve been playing with unusual ways of telling stories, trying to understand what a new literature means to me, and contemplating how writing and music work together beyond lyrics and melody. I’m starting to think they don’t have to be separate acts of creation, at least not in the ways I’ve categorized them in the past. This all needs more thought, but in the meantime, I’m writing stories and experimenting in my recording studio.

The bulk of my artistic life is writing, and I move around a lot among projects, specifically a collection of fictionalized short stories about my and my wife’s years playing in rock bands in Seattle, a horror/weird short story collection, and a novel trilogy that investigates a different type of consciousness (that’s all I can say for now).

I also practice Sansot’s idea of lenteur, a French word that translates as slowness. But it doesn't simply mean to move slowly. It’s more an act of deliberate attentiveness. It makes sense for hiking, being present for my family, and allowing my stories and music to grow organically. I’ve never been particularly patient. Anyone who knows me would agree. So, like my creative practice, that’s also a lifetime work in progress.
